This release is one of a series of works from Mark called "Natural Rhythms"; pieces built from naturally occurring sounds. Using these sounds Mark investigates their rhythmic and percussive qualities and what things they can tell us about the world and about ourselves, and can be historical, ancestral, social, political or personal.
The location of these recordings is Ballyhooly, Co. Cork, Ireland, within the Nagle Mountains, near the banks of the River Blackwater. The name of the well recorded for this release is St. Brendan's Blessed Well which is known as one of the most ancient healing wells in all of Ireland.
